In April 2022, Emily Pugh and I presented a joint paper and workshop for the Photography Network, a CAA-affiliated organization of scholars of photography and photo history. We designed this event to engage scholars in an exploration of theoretical, methodological, and pragmatic concerns related to the use of digital imaging for studying photography and its histories. Participants gained insight into how different digital image repositories (archives, museums, etc.) present photographs as data and earned how to set up simple spreadsheets to keep track of image information relevant to their research.
